Sr. Project Manager

San Carlos, CA

This is a highly visible position that will allow a creative, action-oriented leader to build an Agile project management process and team from the ground up and fulfill a critical need for Nautilus that will be essential for the company’s success.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Work across focus area teams to develop and implement an Agile project management process that will manage backlog and track weekly goals and accomplishments against high level quarterly goals
  • Regularly engage with the focus area teams to understand cross focus dependencies, ensure that the overall project schedule and critical path is understood by all team members, identify “at risk” goals and associated schedule impact, develop plans with the teams to keep schedules on track
  • Coordinate the weekly presentation of cross functional goals and progress in the Group Meeting
  • Train team members on the Agile project management process and coordinate implementation
  • Facilitate team working sessions or “stand up” meetings to keep backlog, in process tasks and completed accomplishments up to date
  • Work closely with the VP Operations to develop project budgets, capital equipment budgets and manage spending against the operating plan for the company
  • Be flexible in job scope and willing to take on additional projects/responsibilities to support the needs of the business
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in the project management field at a biotechnology/life sciences, pharmaceutical or diagnostic instrument company
  • Prior experience at both early stage start-up companies and larger established public companies
  • Experienced team leader able to provide evidence of prior leadership of operationally successful teams
  • Education: Minimum BS in Life Sciences or equivalent degree; Formal Agile project management training preferred
Preferred Skills:
  • Adept at Agile project management concepts and processes; previous experience in the successful implementation of an Agile project management process in an organization; be willing to train/mentor the organization to be successful through this project management process
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to manage in a virtual team environment; must have the ability to develop positive professional relationships across all levels within the company
  • Must be a self -starter and be able to lead and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have prior experience with growing and leading a team but also be a hands-on leader that does not require a large staff and is willing to work in the trenches with the entire Nautilus team
  • Capable of scaling personal professional growth and implemented processes in line with the company’s growth
  • Able to lead and develop paths forward in an ambiguous environment

  • Candidates must be able to present specific examples of instances where they have taken a risk and show examples of plans that have been made to mitigate/manage through risk.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an attitude of relentless pursuit to accomplish a goal while maintaining positive relationships across the organization
