Senior Mechanical Engineer, Consumable Device

San Carlos, CA

This is an opportunity to play a significant role in helping Nautilus Biotechnology develop our single molecule fluorescent based proteomics technology. The core responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to develop the requirements and design our flow cell and consumable device. The successful candidate will need to have deep technical knowledge of microfluidics, surface chemistry and mechanical engineering. This role will collaborate closely with the chip team and systems integration teams to test and refine the design of the consumable device.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Capture the flow cell and consumable device requirements
  • Design a flow cell that meets these requirements and test the performance of this device in the context of our proteomics assay
  • Work collaboratively with the chip team, mechanical, fluidic and optical engineers, and the systems integration group to solve a wide range of technical problems
  • Collaborate with external partners to help develop our consumable device and test new consumable device concepts
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • The successful candidate should hold a degree in Engineering, Physics, or other related discipline with 5 or more years of designing flow cells or other microfluidic devices
  • Expertise in microfluidics and mechanical engineering
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills

 

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience developing an interdisciplinary diagnostic platform is preferred
  • Working with and managing external vendors is a plus
