Antibody Engineering Scientist, Phage Display

San Carlos, CA

We need an outstanding scientist to join our team focusing on screening antibody libraries and identifying candidate molecules. You will help develop the screening methodologies to identify candidate molecules using phage display, as well as developing the functional assays to confirm the binding properties of these molecules. The successful candidate will work within a cross-functional research team, including experienced biochemists, bioengineers, bioinformaticians, and chemists. The successful candidate should have significant experience in screening antibody libraries and excellent communication skills. Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Select and affinity mature antibodies and other affinity reagents using phage display and other similar techniques
  • Express and purify proteins, including antibodies, from various expression systems
  • Analyze protein binding and/or function using SPR, ELISA, HPLC, and other biochemical assays
  • Develop and implement high-throughput epitope mapping strategy for affinity reagents
  • Develop, execute, and analyze experimental results independently
  • Work cross-functionally with other scientists
  • Effectively present and report your findings internally and at scientific meetings
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • BS/MS with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a similar discipline
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with phage display or antibody characterization are required
  • Experience with protein purification from mammalian and bacterial systems is required
  • Experience with analysis of protein-protein interactions using SPR and ELISA is highly desired
  • Strong analytical, organizational skills and excellent written/oral communication skills are required
